Conoce a Noemí Jiménez Martín

Love, Resilience, Perseverance, Passion, Patience, Joy and Attitude. An attitude towards challenges and difficulties. A passion and energy that never runs out. You are an inspiration Noemi Jiménez Martin.
Today we welcome her to the #evergy family by getting to know her a little better and discovering what makes her so special.

From the very beginning, she dazzled everyone with her fierce and passionate game. She has lived her whole life surrounded by golf, thanks to her father who was a constant inspiration. Noemí is a true inspiration. During her amateur years, she was a member of the Spanish Golf Team and reached third position in the world ranking.

How long have you been competing professionally? What inspired you to take this step?

I have been competing professionally since September 2015 and I was encouraged to take this step after seeing myself play really well when I was an amateur in the USA and I reached number 3 in the world. I knew I wanted to dedicate myself to this professionally and I wanted to make a living from it. Obviously I love golf and sport. For me it has been a dream come true and I was very clear that I wanted to compete professionally.

Why golf? Tell us a little about your experience as a professional athlete. What is the hardest and most rewarding part of your career when you look back on your greatest successes?

I started thanks to my father when I was 6 years old. He was the one who inspired me and taught me how to play golf. In fact, he has been my coach since I started playing. I also train with David Castillo now, but I still train alongside my father. For me, my father has been everything in golf.

The experience has been very rewarding. It has taught me a lot about life. There are very hard times, there are good times; but I wouldn't change it for anything in the world. I am what I am thanks to golf.

The most rewarding thing is when you see results.

When you see that all the effort behind it has a reward, it's priceless. Winning a tournament and seeing yourself playing well is one of the most gratifying things in my life. However, when you're trying hard and it's not reflected in the results and you don't know what to do, that's obviously the hardest thing, although traveling and being away from my family also affects me. On the other hand, it's difficult to cope with the stress and pressure of being in a ranking that feels like risking your job every year.

How much time do you spend on sports?

I dedicate around 5 or 6 hours a day to sports. I always dedicate 1 hour to fitness. But I also watch motivational content. In fact, I have occasionally worked with coaching at the sports psychology level. I feel that golf is really divided into several legs and it is super important to have them all aligned, since golf is 80% mental, 20% technical and, of course, the physical part is very important and I have to be consistent in that aspect.

What benefits do you highlight from sport?

The benefits that I highlight above all are the values that you can extrapolate to your day to day life. It makes you a disciplined and responsible person. I have learned the importance of resilience, someone who never gives up. I have also learned to accept failures and learn from mistakes. You know the importance of leading a healthy life. And, why not? It also has a social character that has opened many doors for me and, thanks to sport, I have been able to meet wonderful people who have inspired me and taught me a thousand things.

Meet Noemi Jimenez Martin

For me, the truth is that sport is everything.

How would you encourage people to play sports and lead healthy lifestyles?

I think that the simple fact of socializing and the importance of sport in health, I'm not talking about the aesthetic part or taking care of that aspect or taking care of the physique and the body... I think that sport, and doing it outdoors, has a multitude of benefits and can even be the best way to disconnect from work.

Do you have any role models in the world of sport?

I would say Rafa Nadal, I feel like I reflect him because I may not have the best technique, but he never gives up and is an example to follow. There are also many people who are role models for me in the world of golf, but it is difficult for me to choose a specific role model in this field.

Why evergy? What makes you identify with the brand?

Evergy has everything I need for a gym, it has a wide portfolio of fitness products that are also super good for training for golf.
